Hatriotism

Not the Bee took a look at what liberals are saying on Tik Tok. They have gone from saying they want social justice to saying, “The United States of America needs to cease to exist.”

This is acceptable because we live in a country where half the people believe it is OK to have our top general call up Red China to warn them of any military attack.

We live in a country that elected as president in 2008 a man who refused to place his hand over his heart during the playing of the national anthem.

We live in a country that elected as president a man who says America has systemic racism. Considering the man is a Democrat who during the campaign praised such segregationists as James Eastland, I don’t know if Biden is bragging or complaining.

Patriotism is on the way out replaced by hatriotism. Jeremiah Wright was a prophet when he said 5 days after 9/11 “God Damn America.” Now everyone seems to be doing it.

Newsweek reported in July, “67% of 1,424 U.S. adults in I&I/TIPP polling said they were extremely or very proud to be American when asked between June 30 and July 2, during the build-up to Independence Day.

“But among those aged 18 to 24, just 36% said the same, with 35% in that age bracket stating they were only slightly or not at all proud to be American.”

Hating America is not just for the young.

The day before the 20th anniversary of 9/11, the editorial board of the Chicago Sun-Times libeled and mocked America in an editorial, “Twenty years after 9/11, America’s still driving the low road.”

The editorial began, “Two hijacked planes crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York on Sept. 11, 2001, and America got scared.

“Oh, we looked noble and resolute at first. We mourned our dead and rallied around our firefighters. We gave speeches about standing together. Rudy Giuliani, then the mayor of New York, seemed to speak for us all when he stood amid the rubble and quietly said, ‘The number of casualties will be more than any of us can bear ultimately.’

“We vowed to get the bad guys, and polls reported a boost in patriotism. Eight out of 10 of us displayed an American flag after our nation launched airstrikes a month later against the Taliban and al-Qaida.

“Then we took the low road. We turned on each other. We went looking for scapegoats. We turned against Muslims first, here and abroad, and then against any perceived outsiders. We conflated terrorists with immigrants. We found our chance to indulge our prejudices, to act on our worst impulses, and we took it.”

Bullshit.

No Muslims were attacked in America. The president went out of his way to protect them. Immigration rose. We did not attack Afghanistan or Iraq because they were Muslim. We attacked them because they fostered and encouraged terrorists and terrorism. Saddam Hussein paid the families of suicide bombers.

But facts no longer matter. Only hate does.

The elitists are globalists, which means they owe no allegiance to anyone but their wallets. That was not the case before. From John D. Rockefeller to Henry Kaiser, industrialists were patriotic because they believed in America. They understood that a prosperous and self-reliant nation was their fortress too.

Look at today’s billionaires. They all dump on President Trump, but can anyone recall hearing Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos saying an unkind word about Chairman Xi? Elon Musk praised the Chinese Communist Party on its centennial this year.

No one wants to be the next Jack Ma.

And so they hate America. They claim the USA is racist, xenophobic, sexist, ad nauseam.

And about half the country agrees. That is dangerous because when this country falls, expect something really racist and sexist. Look what has happened in Afghanistan since the Taliban came back. Only a fool would believe that it won’t happen here.

Samuel Johnson is said to have said in the 18th century, “Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel.”

Wrong. Hatriotism — that hate of your own country — is.
