Chilling New Details Come To Light About Darrell Brooks Jr., Waukesha Parade Suspect

Yesterday, a man plowed through a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, killing five people and injuring over 40 more. Now, chilling new details about suspect Darrell Brooks Jr. are coming to light.

Shockingly, this was not the first time this month alone that Brooks has been accused of trying to run people over. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that earlier in November, a woman claimed that Brooks purposefully ran her “over with his vehicle” while she was walking through a gas station parking lot after he had followed her there following a fight. Court records show that the woman was hospitalized for the injuries that she sustained from this incident.

Brooks posted a $1,000 bond on November 11 and was released five days later on November 16. He has been charged three times in the last two years with recklessly endangering the safety of others. In July of last year, Brooks was charged with two felony counts of second-degree recklessly endangering the safety of others using a dangerous weapon, with both of these cases still being ongoing.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office, led by District Attorney John Chisholm, released a statement on Monday saying that the $1,000 bail recommended by prosecutors, and accepted by the court commissioner, was “inappropriately low” given the nature of the charges. The statement went on to say that the bail was not consistent with the office’s approach to cases “involving violent crime, nor was it consistent with the risk assessment of the defendant prior to setting of bail.”

“This office is currently conducting an internal review of the decision to make the recent bail recommendation in this matter in order to determine the appropriate next steps,” the statement read.

Authorities have yet to reveal what Brooks’ suspected motivation for yesterday’s incident was, and they are expected to reveal more details later today.

“Those who died were extremely passionate Grannies. Their eyes gleamed … joy of being a Grannie. They were the glue … held us together,” their organization said in a statement.

The Children’s Wisconsin has also stated that 18 children were treated after being injured at the parade. The United for Waukesha Community Fund has already created a fund for those affected by the tragedy.
