The harsh and much criticized conservatorship that has dominated Britney Spears’ life for more than a decade isn’t over, but the onetime Princess of Pop is now free of her father’s direct control, a California judge ruled Wednesday.
In a packed hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court this afternoon, Judge Brenda Penny agreed with the passionate request of the younger Spears and her personally picked legal team that it was time for Jamie Spears to be suspended from his perch overseeing the singer’s nearly $60 million fortune and career.
“It’s simple, it’s logical, it’s fair and it’s just,” Britney Spears’ primary lawyer Matthew Rosengart said about the suspension of the elder Spears during the hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court downtown. “She doesn’t want a settlement with her father, she doesn’t want mediation with her father, she doesn’t want delay,” the formal federal prosecutor told Penny this afternoon.
