Democrats dusted off the Black Liberation Movement of the 1970s, rebranded BLM as Black Lives Matter, and torched city after city in an effort to end the Trump presidency. As Will Smith told GQ, “This is a difficult area to discuss, but I feel like the simplicity of Black Lives Matter was perfect. Anybody who tries to debate Black Lives Matter looks ridiculous. So when I talk about the marketing of our ideas, Black Lives Matter was perfection.”
Marketing perfection came at a price.
The murders of black people rose 28% last year as thugs murdered 9,941 black people in 2020. That was an increase of 2,164 from 2019.
BLM is a lie because black lives don’t matter to Democrats. If they did, murder rates would not be Third World High in Democrat cities across the nation.
Stephen Sailer has a fine piece on it, “FBI: Murders Up 4,901 in 2020, Black Share of Known Murder Offenders Reaches Record 56.5%.”
And that 56% market share of murders may be lowballing it. Sailer wrote, “while the number of known murder offenders (who can therefore be tabulated racially) increased by 17.3%, the number of Unknown murder offenders grew 36%. Traditionally, murders in black neighborhoods tend to have the lowest clearance rate, what with snitches getting stitches.”
They have the lowest clearance rate because no one cares. The only black lives that matter are the ones you can collect a multi-million-dollar settlement from. Ask the families of Trayvon Martin, Michael D. Brown, and George Floyd how that works.
The police don’t bother with black-on-black crimes because it is not worth the hassle. Black mayors don’t care. Lori Lightfoot was too busy dressing up like a super heroine battling covid last year to bother with crime. Murders rose 55% in Chicago last year. That’s incredible. The city that leads the nation in number of murders padded its lead last year. That’s like Tom Brady winning 4 more Super Bowls.
Actually, it is nothing like Tom Brady winning Super Bowls.
It is like leaving more and more young men to die alone in the darkened streets of the ghetto.
We should not have ghettoes. We have spent too many trillions of dollars on social welfare programs over the last 60 years to have this result.
Yet here we are because gangs keep Democrats in power.
I like Will Smith. What’s not to like? He is amusing and talented. He is a bigger box office draw than Tom Cruise or Tom Hanks.
But what Smith told GQ stunned me because it was so deceptive.
The GQ story by Wesley Lowery said, “In a golden era for black talent in Hollywood, when funding is available for projects that would once have been overlooked, Smith sees no sense in wondering if the apple is poisoned. ‘I just want to encourage Black Americans to take the acknowledgment and seize upon the present global opportunities,’ Smith continued. ‘I would just like us to argue less about certain things and pay attention to the big ripe fruit.’
“Naturally, I asked him which certain things we should be arguing about less, prompting Smith to slow his sentences and consider his words carefully. ‘This is a pitfall area,’ he told me, before diving into one of the more contentious semantic debates in contemporary politics.”
Smith said, “So ‘Abolish the police. Defund the police.’ I would love if we would just say ‘Defund the bad police.’ It’s almost like I want, as Black Americans, for us to change our marketing for the new position we’re in. So ‘critical race theory,’ just call it ‘truth theory.’ The pendulum is swinging in our direction beautifully. And there’s a certain humility that will most capitalize on the moment for the future of Black Americans, without discounting the difficulty and the pain and the emotion. This is a difficult area to discuss, but I feel like the simplicity of Black Lives Matter was perfect. Anybody who tries to debate Black Lives Matter looks ridiculous. So when I talk about the marketing of our ideas, Black Lives Matter was perfection.
“From a standpoint of getting it done, Black Lives Matter gets it done. ‘Defund the police’ doesn’t get it done, no matter how good the ideas are. I’m not saying we shouldn’t defund the police. I’m saying, just don’t say that, because then people who would help you won’t.”
He is not saying we shouldn’t defund the police. He is saying we should not say that out loud.
So he says Black Lives Matter when in fact they don’t because the number of black people murder last year rose 28% last year thanks in large part to BLM riots intimidating police and encouraging crime.
Instead of worrying about marketing, Smith and other supporters of BLM should have thought through the consequences of their actions.
